Samsung Galaxy S11 Could Have 100x Zoom Camera – And Yes, you read that, right! The Galaxy S11 will have an insane 100x zoom camera. That’s 10 times optical zoom and 100 times digital. This information comes from a greek website. Apparently, the owner of the site was able to check out the Galaxy S11 series in a closed meeting, and he shared everything that he saw there on his website.
So it is advisable to take this information with a grain of salt. That said, the information he shared do align perfectly with what we are expecting from the S11, so let’s get right into it. The first one is obviously the 100 times zoom camera. We knew already that Samsung is going for a 5x optical zoom camera, but 10x optical zoom is kinda surprising.
The source said Samsung is using a 48MP telephoto camera along with a 108MP primary camera and periscope lens. Combining all of these, Samsung was able to achieve a 100 times zoom and, most importantly, the 10 times optical zoom. The 108MP sensor offers impressive details, as seen on a Xiaomi handset. So coupled with a periscope lens, it is totally possible to achieve 100 times zoom on a smartphone.
In comparison, the Huawei’s P30 Pro has 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom; it’s one of the most significant features of that handset and proven to be so popular. So Samsung is taking it to a whole new level, even though they’re not the first one to the technology. But as always, they’ll make sure they’ll bring a better tech than the one we already have on existing devices.
That said the greek source also shared some other info such as the names. These are indeed going to be the official names. The 120Hz display is happening as well, and yeah, the phone will record 8K videos at 30fps. Again, it’s still advisable to take this info with a bit of skepticism. I’m not really sure about the authenticity, but as always I’ll keep you posted when I hear more about it.
So when Onleaks revealed the first look of the Samsung Galaxy S11. Everyone was asking what that 6th hole the back camera tumor is carrying is. Well, Ice Universe is saying it is for the laser autofocus. This is not going to be the first time a smartphone will have laser autofocus. Multiple devices from LG and Google as well have featured laser autofocus at the back.
If you don’t know Laser auto-focus, is a type of auto-focus in which infrared light beams are used to detect the objects and also calculate how far they are. They are usually better and more accurate than contrast-based focus techniques that we have on most of the smartphones.
